Hinomaru: Homecoming of a flag

Multiple international award winning documentary showing he incredible story of a young filmmaker’s mission to return a Japanese military ‘good-luck’ flag to the descendants of its former owner, after it was discovered amongst the possessions of his late great-grandfather. 

 

Through sheer determination and overwhelming odds he strives to locate this soldier's family to personally return the flag to its rightful place and uncover the truth about how the flag fell into his family’s hands.  

 

It’s a heartfelt story about discovery, diligence and reconciliation. A film about two families, once on opposite sides of a terrible war now inextricably linked by a shared past and this incredible object.
